35mm Ratchet Tie-down Lashing Strap EN 12195-2

No.4010035

The 35mm Ratchet Tie-Down Lashing Strap is a versatile and robust cargo securing system manufactured to the strict BS EN 12195-2:2001 standard. Designed exclusively for load restraint during transportation (not for lifting), it ensures cargo remains safely immobilized on vehicles and trailers.

  • Standardized Performance: Fully compliant with EN 12195-2, offering Lashing Capacities (LC) ranging from 1000 daN to 1500 daN, with Minimum Breaking Strengths (MBS) up to 3000 kg.
  • Versatile End Fittings: Available with multiple terminal configurations including Double J Hooks, Single J Hooks, Claw Hooks, and Triangles to match various anchor points.
  • Durable Webbing: Constructed from high-strength polyester webbing (standard 0.5m tail + 5.5m main strap length) that resists moderate acids and securely distributes tension across its 35mm width.
  • Safe Tensioning: The integrated ratchet tensioner allows for precise, stable tightening, while operators are advised to use protective sleeves over sharp edges to prevent webbing damage.
  • Technical Data

  • Safe Use of Ratchet Tie Down

35mm ratchet tie down straps (lashing straps) are versatile fasteners designed to secure cargo during transport. Comprising high-strength webbing and tensioning hardware, these straps offer a secure method to hold down equipment on trucks, trailers, and vans.

  • Purpose-Built: Designed to attach to lashing points for securing cargo during transportation, moving, and storage.
  • Durable Materials: Made of high-strength polyester strap and steel ratchets. Available with various end fittings.
  • Efficiency: Provides extremely quick and efficient tie-down and release of loads.
  • Cargo Protection: Less damaging to cargo surfaces compared to lashing chains.
  • Compliance: Fully compliant with European Standard EN 12195-2.
  • Options: Available with Cr6-free galvanized ratchet buckles and fittings.

Safety Guidelines

Always

  • Inspect ratchet tie downs before every use.
  • Calculate the required lashing force based on the restraint method.
  • Select the correct capacity and quantity of straps.
  • Ensure lashing points on vehicle/load are of adequate strength.
  • Position the strap so the load is spread uniformly over the width.
  • Protect webbing from sharp edges and small radii.
  • Ensure straps are correctly tensioned.
  • Exercise care when releasing tension (loads may have shifted).

Never

  • Never use ratchet tie downs for lifting.
  • Never knot or tie the webbing.
  • Never overload the strap beyond its marked capacity.
  • Never use over sharp edges without protective sleeves.
  • Never expose to direct heat, flames, or chemicals without consultation.
  • Never use straps with cuts, damaged stitching, or deformed fittings.

Selection & Usage Guide

Selecting the Correct Tie Down

The relevant standard is BS EN 12195-2: 2001. Straps are available for general purpose or specific applications (e.g., car transport).

  • Calculation: Forces should be calculated per BS EN 12195-1: 2010.
  • Lashing Capacity (LC): Marked in daN (decaNewton). Note: 1 daN ≈ 1 kg.
  • Anchor Points: Ensure vehicle points are strong enough; use more straps if necessary to spread the load.

Using Ratchets Safely

Ensure the tensioner (ratchet handle) is free to align and not bent over an edge. The webbing must not be twisted. Terminal fittings must engage correctly. Checking tension after traveling a short distance is recommended.

In-service Inspection & Storage

Damage Causes: Tensioning across sharp edges, uneven loading, heat burns, and chemical exposure (alkalis damage polyester). Clean only with clear water and dry naturally.

Rejection Criteria:
Do not use if you find illegible markings, cut/chaffed webbing, broken stitching, heat/chemical damage, or deformed fittings.
Recommendation: Have straps inspected by a competent person at least every 6 months.

Storage: Store in a clean, dry area, free from contaminants and shaded from direct sunlight.
